Hosting Lookup

Enter any domain to identify its hosting provider, server IP, and geographic location.

What Is a Hosting Lookup?

A hosting lookup identifies the web hosting provider, server IP address, and geographic location of any website by resolving its DNS records and querying IP geolocation databases. Every website is hosted on a physical or virtual server with a unique IP address. By resolving a domain's DNS A record to its IP and then looking up that IP in geolocation and ISP databases, you can determine which company hosts the site, where the server is physically located, and what network infrastructure it uses. This information is valuable for competitor research, migration planning, performance analysis, and security auditing.

How Does It Work?

  1. Enter any domain name (e.g., shopify.com) in the search field.
  2. The tool resolves the domain to its IP address by querying DNS A records through authoritative nameservers.
  3. The resolved IP is queried against geolocation databases to identify the hosting provider (ISP), organisation, autonomous system (AS) number, and server location.
  4. DNS NS records are also retrieved to show which nameservers control the domain, providing additional insight into the hosting and DNS infrastructure.

Why Hosting Information Matters

Understanding where and how a website is hosted provides critical business and technical intelligence. Marketers and business owners use hosting lookups for competitor research — knowing that a competitor uses AWS, Cloudflare, or a budget shared host reveals their infrastructure investment level. Developers use it when planning migrations to understand current server configurations. Performance engineers analyse server proximity to target audiences, since hosting location directly affects Time to First Byte (TTFB) and page load speed. Security professionals use hosting data to identify potentially malicious infrastructure, verify legitimate business presence, and trace phishing sites back to their origin servers.
